TO assuage the earnest yet often dreary electioneering, my friend in London, Scots songwriter and author Jim McLean, sent me this excellent little ditty to the tune of “A Gordon For Me”:

A YES vote for me, a YES vote for me
If you’re no’ a YESSER you’re nae use tae me
A Green vote is braw, and Alba an’ a’
But an SNP YES vote’s the best o’ them a’

They’re stealing oor oil while they’re makin us pay
Oor gas and oor leccy has gone the same way
The money frae whisky and salmon forby,
They’re eftir oor water when England runs dry

Keir Starmer and Sarwar, two yoonie-tune chaps
They’re starving oor weans wi their benefit caps
And Findlay, the Tory, will jine with Farage
And on his lapel has a Union Jack badge.

A YES vote for me, a YES vote for me...

Yes, let us work towards a self-governing independent nation, where fairness, equality and opportunity are open to all who live, work and play in Scotland!
