IT is not uncommon to see the word “separation” applied to the independence movement. This has a pejorative whiff about it, clearly designed to imply something dark (potentially violent?) about the desire to run our own country.
The freedom to do this was stolen in 1707 by gerrymandering and corruption, with an English regiment waiting on the border to enforce compliance.
The referendum of 2014 was gerrymandered too, by the cynical false promises of one G Brown (who has never apologised), so we must make sure the next one is not.
The plundering of Scotland’s tremendous energy resources to slake the thirst of Thatcher’s gang in red braces in The City – look across the North Sea and weep – must not be repeated when it comes to our more valuable resource, Scotland’s water, which may prove to be decisive.
The fact that support for independence is still running in the high 50s is tremendously encouraging. One more push.
