I READ Ann Leitch’s letter on Saturday with interest. When we were in lockdown I timed my “routine” round our First Minister’s daily appearances on TV.

I found the UK-wide medical updates confusing as I knew those for our own country would be more accurate for Scots – often it was reported as “the country” but actually they were referring to England, not the whole of the UK.

Occasionally, as an afterthought, it may have been mentioned that it was different in Wales and Scotland but that was rarely followed up by the difference itself. If our First Minister mentioned other countries she named them, so I was clearer about what affected where.

If it wasn’t for her almost daily broadcasts and The National, I confess I’d have been quite lost.
