THE FM has dealt with the obvious ignorance of the opposition leaders on reserved matters and the independent role of Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, but he overlooked the astonishing revelation of the Tory attitude to criminality, picked up by Abbi Garton-Crosbie, when Douglas Ross said: “There was a sudden spike in cases involving people who were some of the most trusted in their communities, but the Crown Office proceeded anyway.”

On this basis, some of the most trusted people of all might have evaded the consequences of their criminal actions because of the social standing of their positions.

Some of the most notorious serial killers have been doctors and nurses, sexual offences have been committed by policemen and care workers, and fraud by legal representatives.

Fortunately, under the current Scottish Government the Crown Office in Scotland does not base its decisions to prosecute on the social standing of alleged offenders.
