I READ with dismay the news that Alister Jack had been given an award for “best Scot at Westminster”. To put it mildly, never has my flabber been so gasted.

Mr Jack has done nothing for Scotland. He has done nothing, simply nothing, to merit an award of any kind. He is not even the best politician in his own constituency as he and his predecessor, Mr Mundell, have stood idly by and watched those in power at Westminster preside over successive attacks on their own constituents, leaving us to struggle to make sense of the austerity politics which is synonymous with Tory governments.

Our NHS has been attacked by those in power, our benefits system has been eroded, our hospitality industry denuded of the workforce that we used to have access to prior to the xenophobic posturing of the press and the Bravermans and Patels. He has stood idly by and done nothing. The only award he should merit is a P45.

Wake up folks, before it is too late to deal with these people who lord it over us and tell us to tighten our belts. Mr Jack is in no need of belt tightening, nor any award bestowed on him by a sycophantic and compliant media.
