HAVING followed politics for more than 50 years, it is sad to see that – in the world, UK and Scotland – our societies have never been at a lower ebb.

No matter which party you support, everybody should be concerned about the ability, honesty and dedication of the elected people who are supposed to represent us.

This was summed up by Frankie Boyle as far back as 2013 as follows: “There’s been no attempt to engage with ordinary people, partly because to succeed it would have to draw a lot more non-voters into political action.

“That’s something nobody in our political classes really wants. It could well be that politicians pushing for independence don’t want to succeed.

“That might sound ridiculous, but remember they’re politicians. They spend their whole lives lying to other people – why wouldn’t they be lying to themselves?”
