WITH consultant doctors in England back on strike, it is plain to see the game that was being played a couple of weeks ago when the UK Government and NHS England were offering to “help” NHS Scotland by taking some patients off our waiting lists.

How advantageous would it be to NHS England just now to have a reciprocal waiting list agreement with NHS Scotland?

While our lists are being addressed, theirs are sure to grow ever longer while the dispute between consultants and their employers continues.

Would it not have been a better way to address their waiting lists to have accepted the Scottish Government offer to mediate in their dispute and get their staff back to work rather than try to cut their numbers at Scotland’s expense?
