TRUMP versus Biden seems the likely contest in 2024 US election. “Voters wince at prospect of a rematch”, David Pratt reports in last weekend’s Sunday National. Perhaps guessing it might end up as Trump versus Putin, two-thirds of Americans don’t even wish either to run, at least not for president!

I’ve read elsewhere that only one-third of US children aged nine and 10 are judged as proficient readers. It would seem that once they reach voting maturity they’ve learnt to read the signs. The US electorate can play a major role in maintaining world peace.

In due course, before putting their cross Scottish voters should ask themselves, which party will best lead us into the critical field of foreign relationships?
