THE UK climate minister Graham Stuart says drilling for more oil and fracking is green. Yes, that is what he stated. Sure enough, we are all locked in a bubble with dystopian government spokespersons.
His argument is based on the fact that oil and gas extraction has changed over the years and the emissions the process used to produce have been attenuated, but not stopped. It totally ignores the “product” and its use, and its contribution to the emissions into the environment.

If Mr Stuart was the transport minister he could describe improving the aerodynamics all of the older dirty diesel vehicles and claim they are now green vehicles. Yes, this cuts down air resistance and marginally improves their fuel consumption, but they are still pumping out diesel exhaust gasses, and oil and gas platforms are still pumping out oil and gas.
In business, this is called “putting lipstick on a pig”. It is still a pig!
