REMEMBER when Ruth Davidson was busily shrieking to all and sundry that she would soon be Scotland’s FM?
Well it didn’t happen (and could never happen). So rather than leave Holyrood for the comfort of the Upper Chamber at Westminster having achieved precisely nothing of the sort during her tenure as leader of the Scottish Conservatives, she has set about attempting to topple the present incumbent Nicola Sturgeon and in the process, trash her reputation as an excellent First Minister. Ms Davidson hopes this will be her lasting legacy to Scotland.

In her efforts to achieve her aim, Ruth Davidson has been eagerly and enthusiastically supported not only by the UK Government, but by the other Unionist parties in Scotland, desperate to crush the will of independently minded Scots in the lead-up to the forthcoming Scottish Holyrood election by any desperate means available to head off an SNP majority after May 6.
People who support an independent Scotland must be aware of this campaign of “divide and conquer”, stand up to this threat and hoist them by their own petard come the election by ensuring there is an unequivical and resounding victory for the SNP.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
