I THINK I can agree with Kenny MacAskill about our Scottish MPs staying away from the UK Parliament unless their presence would be absolutely necessary. I would probably have suggested further that, come the new year and Brexit, they abstain totally. Of course, we wouldn’t have expected the Scottish Tory MPs to follow suit. As a Scottish Tory spokesperson suggested, their electorate would not tolerate their MPs’ lack of presence.

As for the House of Lords crying crocodile tears over their 50% daily attendance pay cut, well it beggars belief.
And then we have the more amazing Johnson pulling out more daft stuff and nonsense from his bag of innuendos. He has somehow formulated the illusion that we in Scotland voted against having more powers for Scotland in the 2014 referendum. What???
Not only was that questionable concept not on the voting card as a question, but it was three Tory governments with three different Tory prime ministers ago, if we include the present mafia-style quango excuse for a Tory government.
Johnson’s memory is definitely non-existent given this latest remark, and the way he mumbles and bumbles his way through Westminster retorts and televised interviews.

The situation for Scotland is reaching a definite climax with regard to the timing of an independence referendum, one that needs to be the final question for breaking away from the mess that is Westminster. Some say before the Brexit date, and some say before next May. Whatever is necessary for gaining our independence, we need to know what Nicola Sturgeon is now thinking given the daily changing and worsening Westminster parliament, and also, what her government is saying even if on the sidelines.
We need information. It’s as simple as that. Scotland is right behind her, but is growing impatient by the day.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
