THANK heavens we still have an impartial judicial system both in Scotland and the UK. The forensic analysis of both cases was superb from top judges. What did come across in the judgment was the arrogant, undemocratic way in which Boris Johnson has gone about government business with a disrespect for parliament and by default the electorate.
With such a discredited judgment, surely Brexiteers with even a modicum of regard for democracy would no longer wish to be associated with such a disreputable character and a government being lead by a bully and budding dictator who secured his position thanks to a small number of right-wing party members.
Time for Boris to go, parliament to resume and democracy to return.

I FOR one am delighted with the judgment of the Supreme Court. Perhaps now the UK might end up with a constitution that is truly reflective of a modern parliamentary democracy.
I am a SNP member but for as long as Scotland is governed by Westminster, and for the sake of the people of rUK after Scotland becomes an independent nation, I will support all parliamentary reforms that are fair, clear, transparent and hold parliamentarians to account.

YESTERDAY’S court ruling shows an outbreak of sense in the highest court in the land. It does nothing to address the undemocratic utterings of LibDem and Labour leaders, nor does it resolve any of the crucial issues for Scotland, which is unable to express its democratic wishes within the UK. Sure, there will be a reaction to Boris, and that may be an improvement for the UK as whole, but Scotland needs out of this damaging Union.
We cannot be far from a Westminster election and the SNP will fight this on a manifesto calling for independence. Immediately after that election we need a Section 30 order or to demonstrate that Scotland’s right to self-determination is being frustrated so that independence will be recognised internationally. Either way we will have a valid referendum. To achieve this we need to have patience and bear with the SNP leadership as they finesse the tactics to deliver independence.

AN incredible result, a unanimous verdict from the UK’s Supreme Court upholding the decision of the Scottish Court. Congratulations to Gina Miller, Joanna Cherry and all the others.
This is a Prime Minister who has so much contempt for parliament, the Supreme Court and democracy that he was not even in the country when the most important decision in a lifetime was to be delivered.
Boris Johnson no longer has the confidence of parliament, he should not wait for a vote to say so. He should have emailed his resignation to the Queen from New York yesterday.
In 2014 an appeal was made to Scotland not to leave the UK but to stay and lead it. Scotland has done so: last year its MSPs led a fight all the way through to the the highest court in Europe to obtain a judgment that the UK could withdraw its Article 50 notice to leave the EU, and yesterday the ruling that the prorogation of parliament was illegal by the highest court in Scotland was upheld by the highest court in the UK.
Scotland has twice extricated the UK from holes dug by the Westminster parliament. Scotland has led the way in the UK.
Now is the time to bid the goodbye to the Westminster parliament – which will be tied up for years to come with re-establishing the relationship between parliament, the government and the monarchy – and devote our energy to restoring Scotland to its rightful place as an independent nation, willing to cooperate as an equal partner with other independent nations throughout the world.

I DON’T watch BBC news, but due the the gravity of the Supreme Court ruling I switched on the BBC news channel at 10.30am yesterday. Once the court had pronounced its verdict I witnessed a unique occasion as the channel emulated a future Scotland and became Tory-free! Further, the SNP were granted existence.

THE ruling by the Supreme Court that Boris Johnson’s proroguing of parliament was unlawful is as devastating a blow to a Prime Minister as has ever been delivered.
The court have basically decided that Johnson is a duplicitous liar who shut down parliament to avoid scrutiny and usurp democracy.
That Boris Johnson is a remorseless liar is known to anyone who has even had a cursory look at his career. He has been to be dragged to court by a predecessor. He has been found by the highest court in the land to be guilty of undermining parliamentary scrutiny in order to pass no-deal Brexit. This is unprecedented and fatal. In normal times Johnson would be forced out. However, this is a man whose entire political and personal career has been founded on telling lies. He has become Prime Minster by telling lies.
Johnson will probably survive, as his constituency is the greedy bankers in the City of London. Even after the collapse of Thomas Cook, Johnson was still saying that there was no need for further laws to prevent a repeat in the future.
The collapse of Thomas Cook embodies the parasitic anti-social nature of the financial system.
While tens of thousands of workers and those reliant upon it will pay through their lost jobs and incomes, those ruining the company were rewarded for the failure. Company CEO Peter Fankhauser has pocketed more than £8 million since taking the top job in 2014, with senior executives taking home more than £20 million over the past five years.
As Thomas Cook was in the throes of collapse, the vultures were circling. Some hedge funds engaged in a massive “shorting” operation, effectively betting on the company’s share price falling and earning themselves millions.

WHILST relishing the defeat of the PM, I suspect another spanner to be chucked in the cogs of our so called democracy in short order as Johnson will no doubt have been planning for this outcome since the cases were referred to the UK Supreme Court. The SS United Kingdom continues to plough through the waves at full steam towards the Brexit iceberg!

THE unanimous decision by all 11 judges in the so-called Supreme Court must surely spell the end of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister. In unlawfully proroguing parliament, Johnson ran away from scrutiny of his government’s actions, failing to answer questions on issues such as Brexit and the illegal arm sales to Saudi Arabia.
However, before anyone can wave a BoJo Must Go poster it is worth remembering that Johnson has shown little regard to the law and has used junior ministers to attack the judges and the legal system. This may not be the end of the issue. We are still living in flawed democracy where an unelected Prime Minister can advise an unelected head of state to close down the only democratically elected part of the UK political establishment.
If Boris Johnson ignores the decision of the Supreme Court the UK is taking another step closer to fascism, and we must make our bid for independence soon.
