THIS weekend, hundreds of people are expected to gather at demonstrations across Scotland to demand a ceasefire in Gaza.

Activists have gathered every weekend since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, which began on October 7.

The Scottish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (SPSC) has previously organised rallies in places such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee.

The protests - due to take place on Saturday - which have been announced so far are:

  • Edinburgh, Foot of The Mound, 1pm
  • Aberdeen, Barclays at 163 Union Street, 11am

The next national ceasefire demonstration has also been announced in Edinburgh, set to take place on February 3 at 1pm at Edinburgh Castle Terrace.

It follows previous national demonstrations which took place in Glasgow and Edinburgh last year, where thousands turned out to show their support for a ceasefire in Palestine.

On Thursday, those behind the demonstrations gathered outside the offices of investment firm Baillie Gifford in Edinburgh, calling on bosses to immediately divest from companies involved in the manufacture and upkeep of Israeli security apparatus.
