MORE than 100 schools across Scotland have been forced to close amid a yellow warning for snow and ice.

The Met Office said nearly all of the country above Fort William would be covered by the alert, which will be in place for the entire day.

ScotRail has already said there was some disruption to morning services while Traffic Scotland has urged drivers to take care out on the roads.

Where are schools closed?

Aberdeenshire Council confirmed that more than 80 schools are closed across the region due to bad weather.

The Shetland Islands Council also said most schools in the area are closed.

Highland Council also published a list of more than 30 schools and nurseries which have been forced to shut with the full list available HERE

Elsewhere, Moray Council has also confirmed the closure of seven schools. More information on these can be found HERE.

Aberdeen City Council said two schools in the area will be shut on Monday but that more than 20 faced being open late.
