HOLLYWOOD stars Jack Lowden and Saoirse Ronan have sparked engagement rumours after a cryptic social media post.

Award-winning actor Lowden, 33, posted a series of pictures hiking near Pitlochry with one showing four hands, three wearing what seem to be engagement rings, alongside the couple's pet dog's paw on the trig point!

He captioned the post: "Ben Vrackie, summit 2759ft. So not classed as a Munro, but a Corbett. Steep, beautiful path, unparalleled views of Perthshire, and the heather starting to put her purple on. Or… her OUT out outfit.”

The rings featured caused fans to comment “Is that an engagement ring?” and others wishing congratulations to the couple.

The pair met on set of Mary Queen of Scots in 2018, Irish-born Ronan playing the titular role alongside Lowden as her on-screen husband Lord Darnley.

Oscar-nominated Ronan remains private on social media with little shared online.

Dunkirk star Lowden has been outspoken in his support for Scottish independence, and shared photos from The National’s 2019 Yes rally in George Square.
