SCOTS are being urged to travel to London to take to the streets of Westminster in a bid to fell the Government in a Guy Fawkes Day protest.

A bus, which has been organised by Yesser Jonathon Shafi, will transport protesters from Glasgow to London on November 5 for a mass protest aimed at triggering a General Election.

Shafi said the Government – rocked by a year of unprecedented scandal and chaos – was in a “state of collapse” and that ordinary people could not rely on politicians to “resolve this crisis”.

It comes after Liz Truss announced on Thursday that she would step down as Prime Minister after she lost control of the Tory party, already in disarray following the failure of the mini-budget which had to be abandoned after bringing the country close to a fully-blown financial crisis.

A statement posted to the page selling tickets for the coach journey read: “The Government is tearing itself apart and is in a state of collapse.

“This is not just a crisis of the Tory Party. It is a crisis of the whole political and economic system.

“Fundamental to that is the lack of democracy. As the ‘drama’ unfolds on our televisions screens people face a dire cost of living emergency.

“It cannot be left to the politicians to try to resolve this crisis.

“We need a huge display of people power in favour of democracy and to oppose yet more austerity being thrown at working class communities up and down the land.

“It is time to bring this government down.”

The protest, organised by the People’s Assembly, promised to “shut down London” for the day to demand an election.

The Conservative Government is facing calls from Labour, the SNP, the LibDems and even some of its own MPs to hold a General Election.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Greens said: "We need to end this national embarrassment and be rid of this dangerous empty suit of a government.

"The fact that there is even talk of a Boris Johnson return is evidence enough that the shambles has to stop.

"For far too long, Scotland has been governed by cruel, incompetent and climate wrecking Tory governments that we did not vote for and can't remove. We need an election. But we also need a fair and democratic referendum, and that chance to take our future into our own hands."

Ed Davey, the leader of the LibDems, said: "Boris Johnson failed our country and Liz Truss trashed our economy. The Conservatives have proven time and time again they are not fit to lead our great country.

“We do not need another Conservative prime minister lurching from crisis to crisis, we need a General Election, we need the Conservatives out of power and we need real change.

“It is time for Conservative MPs to do their patriotic duty, put the country first and give the people a say.”

It comes as a new poll released on Friday showed the Tories could suffer a near total electoral wipe-out at the next election.
