SCOTLAND has recorded more than 2200 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the latest daily figures show.

According to the latest data, there were 2288 new cases of the virus recorded, the first time since November 9 that the daily case total was below 3000.

The new cases had a test positivity rate of 12.3%.

There were no new deaths recorded in the latest figures, meaning the total toll under the daily measure, of people who died within 28 days of first testing positive, remains at 9389.

It is noted that register offices are generally closed at weekends.

Across Scotland's hospitals yesterday there were 771 people with recently confirmed Covid-19, an increase of six on Sunday's figure.

Of these people, 51 were in intensive care, a decrease of five.

A total of 4,330,321 people have received their first dose of a Covid vaccination and 3,929,012 have received their second dose.
