IT was a huge success when it was last held prior to the coronavirus pandemic and now Edinburgh Yes Hub are holding another "question time" style debate, though without the rancour and BBC bias, on September 21 in the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh.

Entitled Scotland’s Debate, the event will be chaired by National columnist Lesley Riddoch and the panel includes former Common Weal director Robin McAlpine, SNP MSP Michelle Thomson, Colin Fox of the Scottish Socialist Party, and Scottish Greens co-leader and possible future minister Lorna Slater MSP.

There will also be music by Andrew Gordon and Euan Johnston, with comedy and other entertainment in the foyer.

The event is being put together by Mike Blackshaw who, as we reported last week, has stepped aside from the day-to-day running of the Yes Hub to concentrate on specific projects – you can’t keep a good man down.

Meanwhile there’s a Zoom event which, judging by the reaction to his appearance on The National Roadshow recently, is something that many of our readers may wish to know about.

On Tuesday, August 31, SNP President Michael Russell will feature in an online event hosted by Yes Southside of Glasgow.

It starts at 7pm and is free to attend but you are asked to register your participation at Eventbrite

Yes Southside say: “Michael will tell us about his role in

the Independence Unit and update us on work on the Independence issue.”
