It was billed as the Yes movement’s big return to Edinburgh and the date was set for October 2, but now All Under One Banner has had to move the march to September 25 on the advice of the authorities as there may be clash with other events organised for the original date.

That will mean AUOB marching in Stirling on September 11 and then Edinburgh a fortnight later, but the team are confident that they can make both events possible and safe.

AUOB also has a sponsor for both events, namely Now Scotland, the Yes movement mass membership organisation.

The group said: “Now Scotland is proud to sponsor these two events by AUOB. We as an organisation are committed to supporting all Pro independence organisations to achieve Scotland’s independence now not later."

Independence Live told The National: “We will be covering both of those events for indy supporters who can’t make it.”

The team will also be covering the AUOB event at Faslane submarine base today.

The static rally to protest for independence and against nuclear weapons will be addressed by National columnist George Kerevan.

The National:

He said: “An independent Scotland would have to accept visiting US nuclear bombers - just like Norway. Scotland out of NATO. Join the anti nuclear demo at Faslane this Saturday.”

AUOB has called for maximum attendance at the demonstration.

The group said: “We look forward to seeing everyone on the day as we rally for independence at Faslane, for a Nuclear Free Scotland.

“As Scotland is beyond Level 0 there are no restrictions which impede #AUOBFaslane happening, however AUOB encourages those who wish to wear face coverings to feel free to wear them, and we ask everyone to ensure good hand hygiene. Please do not attend if you feel unwell.

“AUOB calls on everyone who is attending #AUOBFaslane this Saturday to make and/or bring placards and banners which emphasise why we are taking action for independence now and for a nuclear free Scotland.”

There are matters to bear in mind – AUOB is not providing toilet facilities at the North Gate Rally site and urges everyone who is attending to be aware of this and make necessary arrangements prior to and after the demonstration.

They added: “Rally participants are welcome to drop by the Faslane Peacecamp (which has been in situ since 1982) before or after the demonstration.

“Public safety is of paramount importance and as such we ask that all participants be aware of the busy road and traffic, taking care to behave responsibly (ensuring all litter is taken away) and in a manner befitting the Yes movement.”
