PRO-BREXIT protesters labelled Nicola Sturgeon a “traitor” as she spoke to journalists following her meeting with Theresa May.

Angry shouts could be heard as the First Minister tried to detail her concerns about the compromise being brokered by the Tory leader and Jeremy Corbyn.

However, within seconds of her being called a traitor, a Remain-supporting campaigner with a loudspeaker rushed over to try and drown out the Leave backers.

Every time someone shouted “traitor” he shouted “STOP BREXIT”.

As the interview ended, the Stop Brexit man shouted, “Stop Brexit. Thank you, Nicola”.

The SNP leader told press she came out of the meeting not much clearer on where May is “prepared to give ground than I was before I went in.”

The First Minister said Scotland’s interests “are in jeopardy at the moment.”

“Perhaps neither Tories or Labour in these discussion they’re having, are paying enough interest, if any interest at all to what Scotland’ interests are.”

She also urged Corbyn to be “very wary” of May’s offer to Labour to work on a compromised Brexit deal.

Sturgeon said he should be “very cautious about agreeing to sign up to a bad withdrawal agreement on the strength of vague commitments about the future relationship that a new Prime Minister might rip up.”

The First Minister also said the Labour leader should insist on whatever compromise the House of Commons reached went "back to the electorate in another vote".

"It’s almost three years on and if a second best compromise is to be offered to people, I think they should have the opportunity to say if they want that or instead to remain," she said.

Asked what she would do if she was in Corbyn's position, Sturgeon replied: “I’d be pretty wary that I wasn't falling into the trap of becoming the handmaiden of a Tory Brexit.”

The space around Parliament has been taken over by protesters incensed about Brexit in recent weeks.

Last Friday thousands gathered for a pro-Brexit rally organised by Ukip and sponsored by former EDL frontman, Tommy Robinson.

The SNP’s Joanna Cherry QC said she was told go back home.

The SNP MP, pictured below, tweeted: “Very relieved to be safely back to my base in London. Was abused by trailing ends of the Leave Means Leave protest as I walked home. Called a traitor.

“Told to go back to my own country. Such a contrast from [the] People’s Vote March last weekend.”

Labour MP for Wigan, Lisa Nandy said on Twitter she had been “accosted by people shouting f****** traitor as we tried to get in to vote.

“Our staff were advised to leave the building for their own safety. There were armed police everywhere. This is not normal."

Scottish Labour MP Danielle Rowley tweeted: “While the far right are marching outside Parliament, MP's are being advised to take great caution as they leave, and some have received horrific abuse and threats – this is a disgusting whipping up of hate."

Friday's march saw huge crowds of activists with Union Jack flags, placards and banners.
