SOMETIMES you wonder why the Conservative and Unionist Party give their MPs and MSPs free reign on social media.
If they're not smiling while sitting on the throne of a mass-murdering dictator, or retweeting sexist articles about our First Minister, then they're shanking their efforts to score political points on issues.

Step forward Jamie Greene, who earlier today tweeted a mocked up boarding pass of Nicola Sturgeon's flight to the US. The image has a stamp on it with the words "paid by the taxpayer".

In the tweet, Greene said: "If Nicola Sturgeon wants to go to the US to talk about independence then the #SNP should pay for it. The Scottish taxpayer should not be left with a bill of thousands of pounds so that the First Minister can fly first class, grandstand and talk up #indyref2."
It's a shame that poor Jamie didn't do his homework, or just stop and think for a second, before posting what we bet he thought was an absolute zinger.
Thankfully, Twitter was on hand to set the MSP for the West Scotland region straight, including our digital editor Stephen Paton, who said: "How much does it cost to repeatedly fly your MPs over to Brussels, with no clear demands, only to be told "'I don't know why you're here'?"

Really? What about the 1.5 billion bribe the Tories paid to DUP? Or the money Liam Fox has spent flying round the world to get trade deals, was he sitting in economy? Don't think so. Did the taxpayer fund these - yes they did.
