HAVING just watched Ian Blackford speak in the Westminster debate, all I can say is that I’m proud to be a member of the SNP.
Pity this session, called for by the Labour Party was, as one Conservative contributor stated, a futile exercise as a no-confidence vote should have been the course of action. When will the Labour Party live up to their official title of Hers Majesty’s Opposition?

ON watching the shambles that was the Parliamentary statement by Theresa May on Monday, two things struck me.
Firstly, and not surprisingly, the incompetence of the government to produce anything resembling coherence, and secondly the total inadequacy of the Chamber to house every Member. Squeezed into benches, standing by the aisles is not a situation suitable for the 21st century. Compared to our Parliament it resembled something out of a Harry Potter movie!!
Surely Westminster is no longer fit for purpose, it should be consigned to being a tourist attraction, and a purpose-built parliament should replace it.
Alternatively, maybe it won’t be long before we as a nation couldn’t care less ?

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
