I HAVE no doubts that there are problems on both sides of this argument about the ferries fiasco. The SNP initially were trying to save jobs, but I believe that they should have taken some additional advice from business groups/individuals to make sure that they had the best deal possible to get the ferries built and for the future of the yard.
However, I certainly would not take any advice from the Tories or indeed listen to their mumping and moaning, considering they had an MP (Grayling) award ferry contracts to a company that did not have any ships! They seem to have forgotten about that.

As far as Jim McColl spitting out the dummy and saying that he has changed his position in supporting independence, this says a lot about the man. Anyone who wants independence for Scotland want it for the people of Scotland and the generations to follow, so they can have a more prosperous and fairer country and the newly elected government of an independent Scotland will be responsible for making decisions and laws to benefit our country. So why has he changed his mind??

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
