SO Andrew Neil’s self-esteem is dented because a “Nat folk singer” didn’t know who he was! Well, this Nat folk singer does know who he is, has met him and would not willingly repeat the experience. I have met loads of journalists and politicians – I even managed an amicable conversation with Margaret Thatcher – but he is the only one who really made my flesh crawl.

IT seems to me that Neil, who was once admired for his forensic questioning, has lost the plot. Everything I read about him nowadays just shows him carping and being very bitchy from the sidelines. He achieves nothing other than making himself look like a foolish, grumpy old man.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
