Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Kieran Tierney will re-join Celtic in the summer.

The Parkhead boss has revealed the full-back will return to Celtic in a free transfer at the end of the season.

Tierney, 26, was available to discuss a pre-contract move after Arsenal opted against extending his current contract at the Emirate meaning he was free to leave in the summer.

However, Rodgers is keen to land the Scotland internationalist this month. A loan move to Celtic has been floated with club chiefs keen to seal a return as soon as possible.

"Ideally it would (happen in January) but he’s still at this moment an Arsenal player," said Rodgers.

"I think everyone is agreed that will definitely take place in the summer. If we can do it beforehand, then great."

Rodgers added: "We prepared that for the summer and I don't want to speak too much on it with the greatest of respect because he is not a Celtic player here now.

"If we were able to do it [sign him this month] then of course we would like to do that.

"But that is out of our control at this moment in time."

Rodgers also confirmed Alex Valle has left Celtic and is back in Spain ahead of a loan move to Como.

The full-back spent the first half of the season on loan in Glasgow but it is now expected he will join the Serie A side for the rest of the season.

"He's in Barcelona at the moment and will probably move on to another team," said Rodgers.

"Another young player who has contributed really well for us. He has played in some really important games and made his Champions League debut.

"We're disappointed he's left, but we have to move on."
