RANGERS legend Michael Mols has been pictured after undergoing a major operation.

The Dutch football star took to social media this afternoon to confirm he has had brain tumour surgery.

The 52-year-old then shared a picture of himself in hospital with bandages smiling while giving the thumbs up to reassure his worried fans.

“Next step: Recovery, giving 100%, staying positive!

“Everybody who took care of me or looked after me from Amsterdam UMC,THANK YOU!”

Mols played for Rangers between 1999 and 2004 as a striker.

Fans were quick to send their support after being shocked by the announcement, as Mols had kept his health struggles private before now.

One said: “Huhh?? Get well soon!”

A second said: “Scare Michael, good luck!!!”

A third said: “All the best Michael.”

A fourth said: “Gee, fancy this! Lots of strength and power with your recovery.”

A fifth said: “Mols you're still my hero! Hope for a speedy recovery.”

We previously reported how the Dutch striker spent five years in Glasgow after joining from Utrecht in 1999, before returning there after a memorable spell.

Brought in for £4million by Dick Advocaat, the Netherlands international scored 48 goals for Rangers on the way to two Premier Division titles, a Scottish Cup and a League Cup, while also being part of Alex McLeish’s Treble-winning side of 2003 in the process.

His collection could have been even more impressive if it weren’t for a cruel injury sustained in a Champions League tie away to Bayern Munich in 1999.

He also played in the run up to the League Cup and Scottish Cup triumphs of 2002, only to be denied a medal as he didn’t appear in the final.
