THE Ryder Cup officially kicks off tomorrow in Rome and Scotland will have its very own representative on the European side in the form of Robert MacIntyre. 

MacIntyre joins the likes of Brian Barnes, Jimmy Adams, Bernard Gallacher, Sandy Lyle, Sam Torrance and Colin Montgomerie as Scottish players to have taken part in the famous competiton. 

This will be MacIntyre's first appearance at a Ryder Cup after he secured the third automatic qualification spot on the European Points List.

The Ryder Cup is being played at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy which is a happy hunting ground for the 27-year-old having won his second DP World Tour title at the course.

MacIntyre will play alongside the likes of Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy as part of the European team this weekend as they take on Team USA in the 2023 Ryder Cup.

Robert MacIntyre's golfing career

MacIntyre was born on August 3, 1996 in Oban, Scotland.

He turned pro and joined the PGA tour in 2017 and is currently ranked 55 in the world. 

The Oban-born golfer is yet to register a PGA tour win but has had one top-five finish and four top-10 finishes.

MacIntyre has however recorded three international wins during his career so far:

  • Sahara Kuwait Championship (2017)
  • Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Showdown (2020)
  • DS Automobiles Italian Open (2022)

His official prize money to date, according to the PGA website, is US$2,473,010 (just over £2 million).

Robert MacIntyre's girlfriend

MacIntyre is not currently married and according to Sportskeeda "there's also no information about whether he has a girlfriend or is dating someone".

The sports news outlets added: "MacIntyre is one of the few examples of high-profile athletes who manage to keep their private lives out of the public eye.

"For this reason, little is known about his relationship status, in addition to the fact that he is not married, as of 2023."

It is estimated that Robert McIntyre's net worth is around $5 million according to Golf Monthly.

This is based on his prize money won - $2,473,010 (just over £2 million), participation in tournaments and sponsorship deals which include the likes of Nike, Arnold Clark and BMW.

He is also said to still be affiliated with Glencruitten Golf Club in Oban, Scotland.
