Ross County defender Jack Baldwin should have been sent off during today's match against Rangers.

That's the unanimous verdict of BBC pundits John Robertson and Derek Ferguson.

The former Sunderland player, was was already on a booking, pulled Sam Lammers down on the edge of the County box as the game edged toward half-time. His first yellow came for a cynical foul on Todd Cantwell.

Some of Rangers' players questioned referee David Munro as to why a second yellow and therefore a red card was not brandished in the direction of the County captain.

The incident passed without any further action, as Baldwin continued in the action.

And former Inverness boss Robertson admits he was confused as to why the player remained on the park.

He told BBC Sportsound: “The Rangers players are livid because with was their captain that pulled him back, Baldwin who is already on a yellow here.

"I’ve got to say I agree with them. I think Mr Munro knows he has already booked Baldwin and he has not pulled out a yellow card. That is the inconsistency, but that is a yellow card all day long.”

Former Gers midfielder Ferguson added: “He pulls him back. It’s a yellow card. You can’t say Rangers are 2-0 up and now book him. He should be off the park.

“It’s massive. It is simply a yellow card. He should be off the park. We have got to point out when referees get it totally wrong. It’s a massive mistake. You could say Rangers are cruising but you just don’t know against this Ross County side, and they should be playing against 10 men.”

The match ended 2-0 to Michael Beale's side, thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe and James Tavernier.
