Reo Hatate has opened up on his plans for the future, insisting he would love the chance to step up a level in his career.

The Celtic midfielder has been in impressive form for the Hoops since Ange Postecoglou brought him in back in 2021.

Hatate just missed out on the Scottish Premiership player of the season gong last term due to the form of his teammate Kyogo Furuhashi.

Since Ange Postecoglou's move to Tottenham Hotspur, Hatate has been linked with a move to London and reports have also suggested that other Premier League sides are circling.

It remains to be seen if Hatate will leave this summer, but with three years still left on his current deal it would take a mega offer for Celtic part.

In a sit-down interview with GOAL in Japan, Hatate discussed his future explaining: "If there is a chance to step up, I would like to play in various leagues.

"As a football player, I think everyone wants to play at a high level throughout the season. When I was in the J-League, I thought it was impossible to play in the five major leagues.

"However, because I was able to achieve a certain amount of results throughout the season with Celtic, I started to think that I would like to challenge myself next time. If there is a chance, I would like to take on the challenge.

"Of course, if I stay with this team, I can still have good experiences, and next season I will be in the Champions League. I think that by always standing at the top and fighting, I will be mentally stronger, so it would be nice if I stayed."
