POLICE SCOTLAND have launched an investigation into a video showing the Republic of Ireland women's team taking part Pro-IRA chants.
Footage emerged earlier this week of the group of players celebrating in the wake of their World Cup play-off win over Scotland.
The game took place at Hampden, with the Irish running out deserved 1-0 winners courtesy of an Amber Barrett strike.
However, the game has been marred by a clip of the team's stars singing "Oh ah up the Ra" in the changing rooms post-match. The chant is in reference to the IRA.
The players apologised for the situation the following day.
UEFA swiftly confirmed that they were investigating the matter.
Now, the force has revealed they are looking into the video too.
A Police Scotland statement reads: "We are aware of the video and enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
The result marked Ireland's first ever qualification for the World Cup.
Since the controversy, Celtic Symphony by The Wolfe Tones has climbed to number two in the UK iTunes chart.
Ireland boss Vera Pauw - who wasn't in the changing room when it took place - said: "From the bottom of our heart, we are so sorry because there is no excuse for hurting people. It was unnecessary."
There were two Scottish-based members of the squad who faced Scotland at Hampden.
