ITALIAN legend Alessandro Del Piero reckons Napoli proved they are the best team in his country at the moment because they defeated 'aggressive' Rangers at Ibrox.
The Serie A leaders have won both games in their group against Liverpool and Rangers and face the Scots in the penultimate game at the end of next month.
And World Cup winner Del Peiro was full of praise for Napoli for winning at Ibrox.
He said: "If anyone thought Napoli's win over Liverpool was lucky, then that was proved not to be the case by Napoli's success at Rangers.
"What a fantastic victory that was at one of the hardest places in Europe to get a win.
"The Scots know how to be rowdy and aggressive.
"At home, they are even stronger: the cheering from their fans urges them on.
"Winning at Ibrox is doubly difficult so Napoli deserves enormous credit for doing that.
"Luciano Spalletti has great experience and knows very well that games like that are unique and he knows how to get his message across to the team.
"It was a very hard game at Rangers but Napoli were excellent. They are the best team in Italy at the moment."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
