PARTICK Thistle FC is the first Scottish professional football club to install bilingual English and Gaelic signage at their stadium.

The club announced the signage would be in place ahead of their Scottish Championship fixture against Hamilton on Saturday, August 6.

In a post on social media, the club said: “Jags fans visiting Firhill today will notice some new signage in place as we become the first Scottish professional football club to have bilingual English and Gaelic signage at our stadium.

“The fully funded signage, at no cost to the Club, will be on display around Firhill.”

The work comes as part of the Partick Thistle Gaelic Initiative project, which has been done in collaboration with both Glasgow City Council Gaelic Education Services and Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

A Partick Thistle spokesperson said: “Our project aims to increase the visibility and audibility of Gaelic in and around Firhill Stadium and we will be working in partnership with Glasgow City Council on a number of projects and activities to engage Gaelic Medium Education schools.
