FORMER Rangers and Hearts goalkeeper Neil Alexander could return to action at the age of 43 after being unveiled as Dunfermline’s new coach.
Alexander has taken up the role as goalie coach at the Pars following the departure of Owain Fon Williams earlier this week.
The Scotland cap is also set to act as back-up to on loan Leicester City shot-stopper Jakub Stolarczyk as Deniz Mehmet recovers from a finger injury.
Alexander retired from playing in summer 2018 following a spell at Livingston and then became Dundee United’s goalkeeper coach for the next three years.
Dunfermline manager John Hughes said: “We have brought in Neil Alexander from now until the end of the season.
"Deniz Mehmet is still a couple of weeks away, so Neil is still quite fit and he will be doing the goalie coaching and we will be sitting him on the bench until Deniz is back fit.”
