SCOTT ARFIELD has revealed talks over a new Rangers contract are ongoing between the club and his representatives.
The midfielder's Ibrox contract is set to expire at the end of the season but he has expressed his hopes of agreeing fresh terms in Glasgow.
And while he's no closer to announcing a new contract, Arfield has confirmed his agent is in discussion with Rangers chiefs.
He told BT Sport: "No, just stayed the same.
"My agent and the club are talking at the minute.
"There's not any advances on that just yet.
"But as I says I need to reiterate, delighted to be here, happy to be here, proud to be here and hopefully it can continue."
The news comes ahead of Arfield making his 50th European appearance for the club against Borussia Dortmund.
He joined Rangers in 2018 on a free transfer after leaving Burnley and has gone on to become a favourite at Ibrox.
So far he has played 169 games for the club, scoring 33 goals in the process.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
