SCOTTISH Paralympian Gordon Reid has won bronze at this year's Tokyo Paralympic Games.

The Glasgow-based athlete won the all-British bronze medal singles match against doubles partner Alfie Hewett.

The duo were left devastated on Friday after suffering a second successive doubles final defeat to French pair Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer.

The British pair settled for silver at the end of a topsy-turvy encounter which the experienced defending champions snatched 7-5 0-6 7-6 (3).

Reid and Hewett overcame the setback of dropping the opening set to lead the decider 3-1 but could not capitalise before a tense tie-break went against them.

This time Rio champion Reid, who had beaten Hewett in the singles final five years ago, saw history repeat itself – albeit with less at stake – as the Scot edged a tight encounter 6-4 3-6 7-5 in two hours and 22 minutes to secure another trip to the podium.
