MATT POLSTER admits seeing Rangers celebrate title 55 'just feels right' after Steven Gerrard's side were crowned Premiership champions at the third time of asking.
The American was part of the Ibrox squad that failed in Gerrard's first two attempts at lifting the silverware as Rangers were left empty-handed and had to witness Celtic clinch a quadruple treble.
Now Polster has watched on from Stateside as Gerrard's side have ended the decade-long wait for a league crown by storming to success this season and to within touching distance of an unbeaten Premiership campaign.
Rangers will be presented with the trophy following their final fixture with Aberdeen this weekend and the New England Revolution star is delighted to know that long-suffering supporters will have a chance to celebrate at last.
Polster told Herald and Times Sport: "I definitely noticed what it meant to the fans for us not to win the title last season and you could see within the team that it was something that they always wanted to achieve. It just feels right now that they have done it.
"I know the staff and the players have put a really good season in and they have finally got it and achieved that goal.
"I am really happy for the whole group of players and staff and they really deserve it.
"I am sure the fans are ecstatic and I am happy for them as well because I think they deserve this more than anybody else.
"I am just happy that they were able to get it done."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
