Ryan Jack is unlikely to feature this weekend for Rangers away to Ross County.
The midfielder missed last night's win over Standard Liege and manager Steven Gerrard believes the weekend will come just too quickly for him, too.
After a tough outing in the Europa League, however, Jack is the only real top player missing for the trip to Dingwall.
"Jack is unlikely to be available for the weekend," Gerrard said. "Everyone else should be fine, a few minor knocks but should all make it."
The manager has been delighted with his players in recent weeks and he delivered special praise to the fitness team at the club and sport scientists working behind the scenes.
And he hailed new signing Kemar Roofe for keeping himself in tip-top shape and raising the bar for the rest of his teammates.
"We have done ever so well from the first day in Europe," he went on after last night's 3-2 win. "It is an achievement that the staff & players are very proud of. You are never out of sight at this level and games are tough for the full 90 minutes and max out physically and mentally. It hasn't been easy for sure.
"I have to pay credit to the fitness and sports science team, we are hitting top numbers. Everyone is hitting impressive numbers but Roofe is raising the bar at the moment."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
