Former Arsenal and Brazil midfielder Gilberto Silva has hailed Kieran Tierney for his 'passion' and hunger to improve.
The retired star credited Tierney as the Gunners' player of the week despite his side falling to a 1-0 defeat at home to Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City. Jamie Vardy's late strike was enough to win the game for the Foxes.
Tierney was praised by supporters for his showing in the loss and they took to social media in the aftermath to applaud his creativity. And now Gilberto has taken to Instagram to compliment the ex-Celtic defender for his efforts. He said: "In my podcast this week I name @kierantierney my player of the week.
"The Leicester game was tough one but his hard work stood out , I love the passion he plays the game with and his hunger to learn and improve. Keep up the good work Kieran".
The post racked up thousands of likes with more fans celebrating KT's form. One said: "Great little player," and another added: "Legend."
Silva, 44, played for Arsenal between 2002 and 2008. He won five trophies at Highbury and the Emirates including the Premier League and FA Cup. He also won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
