Motherwell face three months without their top goalkeeper Trevor Carson who has been ruled out with a knee injury.
The stopper will have to undergo surgery on the issue to resolve it and will be out of action until at least January at the earliest.
It comes as a serious blow to the SteelMen who also lost new goalkeeping signing Scott Fox to injury a short time after he put pen to paper on a contract at Fir Park.
“It is a blow to lose Trevor,” manager Stephen Robinson told the club website. “He has done so well since he’s got back into the side and also getting back into the national team.
“We will support him through his recovery and hope that he makes a quick and full return to fitness.
“We brought in Aaron Chapman as cover previously, and we are evaluating whether we now need to bring in another goalkeeper to cover Trevor’s absence.”
Carson, 32, has made 76 appearances for Motherwell since joining the club in the summer of 2017.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
