ALLAN MCGREGOR 7
Will be surprised at how little he was worked but coped well with whatever was asked of him.
JAMES TAVERNIER 8
Added another assist to his tally with a teasing free-kick for Goldson to open the scoring. Rarely troubled in a fine showing.
CONNOR GOLDSON 9
Impressive once again at the back and came up trumps with a glancing header and scrambled finish at the other end.
FILIP HELANDER 8
Barely put a foot wrong at the heart of the Gers defence. A solid and comfortable afternoon for the Swede.
BORNA BARISIC 7
Battle with Frimpong was always going to be key. Croatian won it well to continue his fine form.
GLEN KAMARA 9
The best player on the park. Perhaps one of his finest performances for Rangers as he strolled it.
STEVEN DAVIS 8
Composed on the ball and positionally excellent off it. Just what Gerrard needed from him.
SCOTT ARFIELD 8
Build-up to the second goal was Arfield at his best. Deserved to start on form and didn’t disappoint.
BRANDON BARKER 5
The winger was a surprise starter and didn’t really justify his inclusion. Couple of nice moments but couldn’t hurt Celtic.
RYAN KENT 7
No Old Firm goal this time around but always a constant threat as he operated across the front line.
ALFREDO MORELOS 6
Had few chances and he frustrated with poor hold-up play at times. Can be better but played his part.
Substitutes:
RYAN JACK 6
(for Barker, 62) Had to settle for a place on the bench but still made an impact off it as he helped Rangers see it out.
CEDRIC ITTEN 2
(for Morelos, 85) Late cameo to make his derby debut.
JOE ARIBO 2
(for Arfield, 89) Returned to action after injury.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
