THE SCOTTISH FA has secured funding of £5 million by utilising the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan scheme, report the BBC.

Santander Bank have provided Scottish football's governing body with the loan, which is secured with a floating charge against "all the property or undertaking of the company".

In a statement released to the BBC, an SFA spokesman confirmed that an agreement had been reached between the two parties.

He said: "The Scottish FA, like many other businesses affected by Covid-19, has successfully applied for a loan to help address the economic impact of the virus on the governing body via the Government's Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme."

The news will come as a welcome boost to the national association, whose finances have been significantly impacted by the ban on supporters attending matches.

Scotland have played at Hampden on three occasions this year with no fans inside the ground, with the SFA issuing refunds to those who had bought tickets to the Euro 2020 play-off semi-final against Israel last week.
