SCOTT ARFIELD hopes Alfredo Morelos will reap the rewards of his goal at Easter Road as he got himself back on the scoresheet in the Premiership.
The striker netted twice in the win over Lincoln Red Imps on Thursday night and was rewarded with a start for the clash with Hibernian on Sunday.
His fine finish - his first league strike since scoring against St Mirren last month - wasn't enough to inspire Rangers to victory as Arfield's effort after the break was cancelled out.
But the midfielder was pleased to see Morelos looking back to more like his old self as he made it five goals from seven appearances this term.
Arfield said: “For me he has always been focused. He’s a team-mate who wears his heart on his sleeve and you can see that, everybody can.
“He’s so happy when he scores goals and that one will do him the world of good.
“He has always been focused for us, whatever is said about him doesn’t affect him, I don’t think he can understand it!
“But he’s a fantastic team-mate and a fantastic guy, and when he’s a number nine he has got to score goals."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
