HIBERNIAN PLAYER RATINGS
OFIR MARCIANO 8
The Israeli keeper was helpless to keep out Alfredo Morelos’s leveller, got an arm to Scott Arfield’s strike and then did brilliantly to deny Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi. His late double save from Arfield clinched a point.
PAUL HANLON 7
Was booked by for a bad foul on Hagi. Failed to get his head to a Ryan Kent cross that Morelos converted in added-on time at the end of the first-half. But he put his body on the line repeatedly and led by example.
RYAN PORTEOUS 6
Clattered Morelos off the ball in the middle of the park in the first-half and rightly received a yellow card. Still needs to curb his rash streak. Was sleeping at Arfield’s strike. But those incidents aside he did wel.
PAUL MCGINN 6
Was well-positioned to clear a goal-bound Scott Arfield shot off his line in the first-half. Had his name taken after scything down Kent in the second.
DREY WRIGHT 7
Came in for Jamie Murphy, who is on loan from Rangers until the summer, wide on the right. Opened the scoring with a first-time shot from a Martin Boyle pass in the first-half.
CHRISTIAN DOIDGE 7
Probed for an opening in the final third from kick-off. Was rewarded for his perseverance in the 70th minute when he rose and headed home a Boyle cross.
MARTIN BOYLE 8
Did well to fend off Borna Barisic wide on the right and supply Wright before the opening goal. Could have done better at Morelos’s equaliser. But he atoned by supplying Dodige for the second.
JOE NEWELL 7
Distributed the ball quickly and accurately whenever he received possession. His second-half delivery into the Rangers six yard box deserved to be buried.
ALEX GOGIC 7
Allowed Alfredo Morelos to get a header on goal early on and was fortunate the Rangers striker’s effort went wide. But he put in a power of work in the middle of the park winning the ball.
KEVIN NISBET 7
Received limited service. Forced a brilliant fingertip save from Jon McLaughlin in the first-half and went close with a volley in the second. Showed an admirable willingness to track back and defuse Rangers’ attacks.
JOSH DOIG 7
The teenager had his work cut out containing Ianis Hagi and James Tavernier on his flank. Stuck to the task well and got upfield when play allowed.
SUBSTITUTES
LEWIS STEVENSON 5
Took over from Doig at left back after an hour. Used his experience to help Hibs get a draw.
MELKER HALLBERG 2
Replaced scorer Wright with a minute of the match remaining. Was hardly involved.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
