JAMES TAVERNIER has tipped Rangers kid Nathan Patterson for a bright future in the game as he continues to catch the eye at Ibrox.

The youngster was handed his second European outing by boss Steven Gerrard as he replaced Kemar Roofe during the first half of the win over Lincoln Red Imps on Thursday.

Patterson is the back-up to Tavernier on the right of the defence this term and the Gers skipper is pleased to see his understudy making the most of his chance to impress.

Tavernier said: “I am delighted for Nathan. He is a great lad, a great lad to have in the changing room and he is like a sponge, he soaks everything in.

“He gets his head down and works hard and I believe he does have a big future at Rangers and a big future in football.

“He has got great attributes to his game and as long as he keeps working hard at his game, as he is now, he will have a very good future.”
