CELTIC are already looking to sign Shane Duffy permanently, a day after he arrived at the club on a season-long loan.

The Republic of Ireland international completed a dream move to Parkhead yesterday and stated he wanted to make “history” at his boyhood club.

And the Daily Record have reported that Celtic are already plotting a move for the defender next summer when his loan deal is up.

Duffy is under contract at Brighton until 2023 and attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs before coming north to sign for Neil Lennon’s men.

Speaking yesterday, Duffy said: “I know the fans are optimistic and I am too so we are going to do the hard work and hopefully the reward is at the end.

“I’m delighted, obviously. It’s taken a little while to get it done but I’m over the moon. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of doing and to get the chance and the club to want me is a special moment for me and I’m really excited to get up there and get going.

“Hopefully I can bring success to the club.

“It’s been a long time coming.”
