Lyndon Dykes moved south to Warburton's QPR last week in a deal worth £2 million after impressing at Livingston last season.

Warburton has taken a handful of players from the Scottish leagues down south, including Barrie McKay, Jason Cummings, Lee Wallace and Liam Kelly.

He knows the market well from his time at Rangers, and admits that English clubs sometimes overlook the quality of players in the SPFL.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "When I hear people being derogatory about the standard of Scottish players … there are some outstanding young players up there and sometimes people look for reasons not to buy them and pursue them.”

And Warburton admits the Scottish market is a lucrative and undervalued one.

He said: “There are some very very talented young players up there.

“Sometimes it is a gamble and you won't get everyone right but there are some very talented players.

“You need to give them time to settle in but if you can give them that time to settle in and be patient you will reap the rewards.”
