STEVEN GERRARD has confirmed Rangers have held talks with Hibernian and Hull City over deals for midfield pair Ross McCrorie and Greg Docherty.
Herald and Times Sport revealed on Wednesday that Hibs had made their move to bring McCrorie to Easter Road after tabling a £200,000 bid for the 22-year-old.
That approach was subsequently rejected by the Light Blues board and Hibernian will now consider their options as McCrorie looks to leave Ibrox in search of regular first team football.
Fellow fringe man Docherty is also set to bring an end to his time with his boyhood heroes as discussions over a move south of the border continue.
Gerrard said: “Hull are in for Greg Docherty so he has had permission to speak to them.
“We have had some interest from Hibs in Ross McCrorie. Those talk are ongoing.
“Ross and Greg will not be going on loan. They have been on two loans.
“They have done that road. If we get bids that we like, that are good enough and big enough, we will consider them. But they won’t be going on loan.
“It depends on what bids land. If bids land where we feel it’s worth it and we don’t see them playing the amount of games that’s going to satisfy them.
“Or if they come to me and say I want to go its’ time, these are all the things you have to consider.
“The reality is that the bid needs to be big enough for the board to accept before I have a decision to make.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
