STEVEN GERRARD insists Alfredo Morelos is "100 per cent" a Rangers player, amid reports that the Colombian is fully committed to the Ibrox cause.
The Light Blues striker has been at the centre of transfer speculation all summer and reports have heavilly linked him with a move to Ligue 1 side Lille.
But now the Daily Record say the deal is no longer on the table after the French side agreed a £27million deal for Jonathan David.
And the report goes on to state that Morelos is now happy to remain at Rangers this summer.
Ibrox boss Gerrard firmed up the reports this morning in his press conference, saying: "100 per cent Morelos is a Rangers player, you could see that in his performance and he will be in the squad for tomorrow's game."
We told earlier how former Rangers ace Mark Walters urged his old side to keep Morelos.
He said: "He’s still a young player with a lot to show. There’s no point in having the money in the bank when it should be on the pitch in players. I feel at the moment they need to keep players of that calibre. The money will come through playing in Europe and so on.
"It’s a chicken and egg situation. They need to keep these kind of players then they will win trophies and get more money in anyway. I’m sure the supporters would rather him be here scoring goals. Rangers have always had exciting centre forwards. When Morelos is on his game and scoring, he’s a fantastic player."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
