RANGERS have snapped up Hearts' women's coach Kevin Murphy.
Murphy, who played a key role in integrating Hearts Women into the club, moves to Rangers to become the women’s side’s first team assistant coach and girls academy manager.
He returns to Ibrox having managed Rangers Women a number of years ago and has also had stints with the Scotland national team at U17 and U19 level.
Murphy commented on the announcement saying: “I am delighted to rejoin Rangers and look forward to getting started. I was really impressed by the one-club vision outlined by Craig Mulholland, Amy McDonald and Malky Thomson which aims to make Rangers the leading Women’s club in Scotland.
"I was excited by the aspirational vision and the relentless way that Rangers are going about achieving excellence in the Women’s game, a first in Scotland and something I simply couldn’t turn down.
“The chance to work with the top international players now in Rangers’ first-team in a full-time professional environment, and also the challenge of producing players who can force their way into a team at the level it has now become, is fantastic. I can’t wait to get started.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
