LEEDS are reportedly plotting an ambitious swoop for Celtic star Odsonne Edouard - if they gain promotion to the Premier League.
The Whites are currently leaders of the English Championship with five games remaining and are heavy favourites to return to the English top flight.
Reports today have suggested that if Marcelo Bielsa's side win the league then they will plot an ambitious move to bring Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard to Elland Road.
The Daily Star say Bielsa is planning a big money spend if he gets his team into the Premier League.
The Frenchman is under contract at Celtic Park under 2022 but, with a number of high-profile European clubs in keen pursuit of his signature, manager Neil Lennon has revealed the Scottish champions are doing all they can to retain Edouard to help in their pursuit of a record-breaking tenth successive league title.
He said previously: “There are ongoing discussions at the minute with Odsonne’s representatives. Ultimately he’s a player we want around.
“He had a magnificent season this year and we want to keep him. It’s as simple as that. We’re doing everything we can to keep him here for at least another season anyway.
“Of course there is going to be speculation around a player of that quality. But we’re comfortable at the minute with the position we’re in with him.
“He’s grown into a top-class striker. He’s really blossomed over the last couple of seasons. He’s got a fantastic relationship certainly with me but also my backroom team and his teammates. You can see how much the supporters appreciate him as well. I think that’s reciprocated.
“He seems pretty happy and we’re all looking forward to seeing him at training. We’d love to discuss things with him and a few other players as well about what our plans are going forwards.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
